Shibori

Here are the magic workings of Shibori!
Shibori is the art of dying fabric like Japanese artisans.
I enjoyed folding and clamping the fabric to get this patterned look.
It was then dyed and/or discharged.

Xochiquetzal

My aztec goddess. Printing this up on fabric and I'm going to embroider and bead it! Yeah I am crazy!

For the meantime, enjoy this song!

Heavily influenced by Latin culture right now..

Illustrator

Here's what I've been up to all semester long in my digital class:

redesign a bad logo:
design a munny:
design a clothing tag for a fake or existing company:
7 spot illustrations based on the seven deadly sins

There are obviously more to come after these.

Lady Gaga's new stylist.

Finally finished the dress!
Took me about two weeks on top of other homework to finish, but now it's finally done. Although, the final product is slightly different than these photos. The collar is looser/bigger and laid on the shoulders differently once I took the thread out, but still fabulous! Through this project I've learned to trust my instincts and to not always think so technical. There were probably many hours wasted trying to figure out the proper way to put together some of these pieces, but once I was tired of staring at it and not making any progress I just ripped it apart and had at it with my scissors. Overall it was a success and my sewing ability has improved!

I loved making this dress and I plan on making another with a different collar with all the left over organza! Hopefully I can get some really nice studio shots of it this week.

Now where's the next big party so I can wear this thing!?

(btw.. thanks Patrick Daly for making my banner)

Hagopian Rug Competition

At the last minute I decided to do the Hagopian Rug Contest and to my surprise I won 3rd place! The winners receive scholarship money and their rugs will be produced and displayed in the Student Show. The only reason I have crappy quality photos is because I honestly did not think I would place so I didn't even bother to scan them!
